If the project is approved, the 7500m2 site – currently occupied by maintenance and buggy sheds – will be transformed to create new high-value facilities for Bargara Golf Club members and the public.

The proposed Members’ Clubhouse design features a single level, coastal-themed building with a distinctive “butterfly roof” and a wide patio overlooking the course’s 10th fairway.

Linked to the clubhouse are two boutique-style residential apartment buildings comprising 48 two- and three-bedroom apartments specifically designed for Seniors Living. Spanning four levels above a single level of secure undercover parking, all apartments have been designed to maximize views north and east to the ocean, and south across the expansive greens of the club’s loved and renowned course.

Planning for the project has been managed and directed by Club Property Solutions (CPS), a development and advisory company specialising in designing property use strategies for community clubs.

The proposed Bargara Golf Club centenary development projects have been developed by CPS over several years in close consultation with the Club and Council, and employing a range of high-calibre national consultants.

Of particular note has been the appointment by CPS of West Australian-based, Pendoley Environmental, recognized Australian experts in marine conservation and global leaders in the monitoring of marine turtles in industrial environments. Pendoley principal, Dr Kellie Pendoley has overseen the provision of advice and guidance on both projects, including recommending lighting strategies to ensure the projects meet all standards necessary to ensure they will have no adverse impact on sea turtles.

“As a community club we see it as our role to lead the way in providing facilities and experiences that bring social and economic benefits not just for our members, but the whole region. The value of the Bargara Golf Course to the community really can’t be measured… Just imagine Bargara without it. This project along with its ‘twin’ – the proposed redevelopment of our Club Bargara facility opposite – is all about ensuring the Club and course’s future sustainability, while at the same time building infrastructure for the benefit of the entire community.”

Bargara Golf Club President, Mr Dave Wilkinson

Set on an expansive 56ha site on the Pacific shoreline the beautifully conditioned Bargara Golf Course – with its meticulously maintained fairways and superb greens and friendly staff – is recognized as providing one of the finest golf experiences in Australia.

Bargara Golf Club was established in 1924 by a group of local residents with the shared common vision of building a high-quality 18-hole golf course for the enjoyment of local residents. With the centenary of its founding now approaching, the club’s course now forms the much loved and irreplaceable green heart and social centre of this vibrant coastal community.

The Club currently has some 700 playing members and 3000 club members.

“The interest in golf-course based Seniors Living is now well-developed and fully proven by the success of numerous projects around Australia. That’s in part because keen golfers love the idea of living immediately adjacent to their course, while others just value the sense of community and open outlook. So, the idea of locating the members’ clubhouse and this small Seniors’ Living complex on a part of the course not needed for any other purpose, just made complete sense in the overall project strategy.”

CPS Director, Greg Wilson

Bargara Beach, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef

Bargara is now well and truly ‘on the map’ with accommodation operators as a very desirable getaway destination.

Home to approximately 10,000 lucky residents, the coastal township of Bargara is located 13km east of Bundaberg (population approximately 100,000) at the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. The Queensland state capital, Brisbane, is 480 km to the south (4.5 hours by road or 55 minutes by air).

With its stunning elevated ocean foreshores, golden beaches, nearby coral cays, a dramatic, rugged coastline decorated with palm trees and pandanus, and iconic tropical vistas over the golf course and inland cane fields, Bargara has managed to maintain a unique coastal village atmosphere while being only 15 minutes from a major city.

Bargara Beach’s pristine offshore ocean waters are a playground for migrating whales and dolphins while the beach at nearby Mon Repos supports the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on Australia’s east coast.

Bargara’s climate (virtually identical to that of Hawaii) combined with its unique relaxed coastal atmosphere and natural beauty, provide an unrivalled lifestyle for both residents and visitors. A family-friendly destination, it offers a range of iconic Australian recreational activities for locals and visitors alike, including swimming, surfing, boating, fishing, snorkeling and diving, walking, playing golf and just watching brilliant sunsets.
